'Living Portraits' of St James's
Living Portraits by Lisa Tse
“Living Portraits” is an immersive photography installation in the heart of prestigious St James’s, celebrating London’s top chefs.
This extraordinary collection of photographic portraits by Lisa Tse captures the essence and artistry of some of the capital’s most celebrated chefs, transforming the heart of St James’s into a dynamic, open-air gallery.
The installation stretches across Haymarket, Jermyn Street, and St James’s Market. Each “Living Portrait” in Tse’s installation uses dynamic lenticular printing technology, allowing the two-metre-high images to shift and see visual movement in the images as viewers pass by.
CELEBRATING LONDON'S TOP CHEFS
The unique interactive experience provides a window into the personalities and passions of each chef, including Michelin-starred talents Alex Dilling, Jason Atherton, and Nieves Barragan, alongside visionary chefs like Tong Chee Hwee, formerly of Hakkasan, and Fallow’s Will Murray and Jack Croft.
As pedestrians stroll through St James’s, they will witness these portraits “come alive,” creating an intimate connection between the viewer and the chefs, whose expressions and gestures shift with each step.
A Celebration of Art, Culture, and Hospitality.
This photography project was commissioned by The Crown Estate, which is the landlord for the featured restaurants across Regent Street and St James’s.
‘Living Portraits of St James’s’ is an accessible, free public art experience that invites everyone to explore the unique stories of London’s culinary leaders. As Tse’s animated portraits grace these historic windows along these iconic streets, the installation transforms St James’s into a lively celebration of art, culture, and hospitality.
